First Year Engineering Representative
As First-Year Engineering Representative at Western University, I was elected to represent over 1,000 first-year engineering students on the Undergraduate Engineering Society (UES). In this role, I served as the primary voice for my cohort—bringing forward student concerns, proposing new initiatives, and working alongside faculty and student leaders to improve the first-year experience.
I participated in UES council meetings, helped plan academic and social events, and supported the transition of students into one of Canada’s most rigorous engineering programs. From organizing student feedback to advocating for better academic support and community-building initiatives, my goal was to make sure every first-year student felt seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.
This role sharpened my communication, leadership, and collaboration skills—and gave me a deeper appreciation for student governance and the power of peer representation.
